Benjamin Baya / Software Engineer & Business Technology Consultant

I help businesses build, automate and grow with technology.

Bring me the problem: a manual process, a website that doesn’t bring in customers, an idea for a product. I’ll help you work out the right solution, then build it: websites, software, AI-powered automation and digital growth you can measure.

The first conversation is a free 20-minute call about your business problem. No technical brief needed.

For business owners

Have a business problem that technology could solve?

You don’t need to know the technical solution before you get in touch. Most good projects start with a plain description of what’s getting in the way.

  1. 1I understand the problem first
  2. 2I recommend the right solution, which might be small
  3. 3Then I build and implement it

Services

Consult, build, automate, grow.

Four connected capabilities that follow how businesses actually adopt technology: decide what’s worth doing, build it properly, remove the manual work, then use it to win customers.

Selected work

Problems solved, not just things built.

Business systems, products I engineer at Buzlin Holdings, products shipped by my own company Teevexa, and one personal build, each written up as the problem, what I built, my role, the technology and what changed. Where an outcome hasn’t been measured, I say so.

Business projects

Becof Organic Chemicals homepage: “Transforming Agriculture with Eco-Friendly Innovation”, with the SoilFix product spotlight

Agri-biotech · Kenya

BuildAutomateGrow

Becof Organic Chemicals Limited

A commerce and operations platform for an agricultural biotech company

Online sales with M-Pesa, distributor and farmer portals, expert consultations and growth tools: the digital backbone of an agricultural business.

Problem
Becof Organic Chemicals sells biotechnology products that protect crops and restore soil. It needed more than a shop: farmers, distributors, agronomy experts and internal staff all interact with the business differently, and orders, payments, consultations and partner relationships were not in one place.
Technology
React · TypeScript · Tailwind CSS · Supabase (Postgres, Auth, RLS) · Edge Functions · M-Pesa Daraja API · Google Analytics

Buzlin Holdings Inc · Marketplace · Canada

BuildAutomateConsult

Buzlin Holdings Inc

Modernising a multi-vendor marketplace and service-booking platform

Seven connected apps (customer web and mobile, seller, courier, POS, admin and API) taken from a licensed codebase to a hardened, rebranded production platform.

Problem
Buzlin combines a multi-vendor marketplace with professional service booking. It was built on a licensed platform that had been partly customised: outdated dependencies, template leftovers, unused features, security gaps and apps that weren’t ready for app-store requirements.

BuzRyde website: “Ride Smarter. Earn Better. Move Canada.”

BuzRyde Inc · Ride-hailing · Canada

BuildAutomateGrow

BuzRyde Inc, a subsidiary of Buzlin Holdings Inc

Rider, driver and operations systems for a Canadian ride-hailing service

Rider and driver apps, an admin control panel with trust, support and growth tooling, and a bilingual, search-optimised website.

Problem
A ride-hailing service needs far more than a booking app: drivers must be verified and paid, riders supported, disputes resolved and growth campaigns run. In Canada, the public website also has to work in English and French.

Esteric Kitchens website: “Bespoke kitchens & interiors, crafted around the way you live”

Client · Interior design · Kenya

A marketing website and CRM for a kitchen and interior design company

A public site that turns visitors into quote requests, and an internal CRM that tracks every lead through to a finished project.

Case study: Esteric Kitchens & Interiors
Melamart Enterprises website: “Reliable Scaffolding & Construction Equipment for Hire and Sale”

Client · Construction equipment · Kenya

Website and hire-management system for a scaffolding company

A lead-focused website for two branches, and a secured, redesigned admin system for equipment hire, orders and overdue returns.

Case study: Melamart Enterprises

Teevexa products

Teevexa product · Supply chain

BuildAutomate

Teevexa Ltd

Teevexa Trace - supply chain traceability from the field to the buyer

Two mobile apps and a public verification page that record what happens to a product batch at every step, even with no signal, and let anyone check its journey.

Problem
Producers and exporters are increasingly asked to prove where a product came from and what happened to it along the way. The evidence is usually created in the field, on farms, in warehouses and on the road, where there is often no connection, and it ends up on paper or in chat messages that nobody can verify.
Technology
React Native (Expo) · TypeScript · Supabase (Postgres, Auth, Realtime) · Edge Functions · Google Maps · Polygon (optional)

Teevexa product · AI support

TeeDesk - AI customer support a business can run on its own servers

An open-source support platform that answers customers on a website, WhatsApp and Telegram from the business’s own documents, and hands over to a person when it isn’t sure.

Case study: TeeDesk
Teevexa homepage: “Building Digital Infrastructure for Ambitious Businesses”

Teevexa product · Business system

The Teevexa platform - one system to win and deliver client work

The website, quote funnel, consultation booking, client portal and internal CRM that Teevexa runs on.

Case study: Teevexa platform

Also built at Teevexa: IoT Custodian, a private device security monitoring platform with machine-learning anomaly detection, automatic incident management and vulnerability checks.

Personal build

Personal build · AI

BuildAutomate

Product build

Tafsiri AI - machine translation for Kenya’s languages

Swahili, Somali and English translation on a fine-tunable neural model, with an active-learning loop that improves quality over time.

Problem
Most of Kenya’s ~68 languages are poorly served by mainstream translation tools, and general-purpose AI translators rarely say where they’re unreliable.

How I work

From a conversation to a working solution.

A simple, transparent process. You always know what’s being built, why, and what it’s expected to change.

One partner, from the problem to the result.

Many businesses end up with one vendor for the website, another for advertising and a third for the internal system, and nobody responsible for whether it all works together. I work across the whole journey: understanding the problem, recommending the right technology, building it, automating the workflow and measuring whether it produces results.

  1. 01

    Understand the problem

A conversation about your business: how it works today, where it’s stuck, and what a good outcome looks like. No technical brief required.

  2. 02

    Recommend the right solution

A clear recommendation: what to build, what to automate, what to buy off the shelf, and what not to do at all. Scoped to your budget and stage.

  3. 03

    Build and implement

I design and build the solution. Larger projects are delivered through Teevexa, my technology company, so you get a team without losing a single point of contact.

  4. 04

    Launch, measure, improve

Tracking is set up from day one so you can see what the investment is doing. Then we iterate on what the numbers show.

About

An engineer’s way of looking at a business.

I’m Benjamin Baya, a software engineer and entrepreneur based in Nairobi, Kenya. I trained as a chemical engineer, which taught me to look at an operation the way you’d look at a process plant: inputs, outputs, bottlenecks, and the points where things quietly go wrong.

I moved into software because it’s the most direct way I know to fix those bottlenecks. Today I am the lead software engineer at Buzlin Holdings for its marketplace and ride-hailing products, and I help businesses directly with technology strategy, custom software, AI-powered automation and digital growth.

What I care about is practical value: understanding the business first, being honest about what technology will and won’t fix, and building things that keep working after launch.

  • Problem before technology

Understand how the business works before proposing anything.

  • Honest scope

Recommend the smallest thing that solves the problem, or nothing.

  • Measure the outcome

Decide up front what success looks like, and track it.

  • Built to be maintained

Software that’s still useful and fixable a year after launch.

Let’s talk about it. The first conversation is about your business and the problem, not about selling you a particular service. If technology isn’t the answer, I’ll tell you.
